SURKAL Afforestration Activities in Darboğaz Village, Kars

Planned as a Quick Impact Project, BTC's implementing partner in Kars, SURKAL, assisted villagers in carrying out afforestration activities in Darboğaz village. While local people provided labor force and tractor (and their land), Selim District Governate and Tepe (pipeline contractor) provided fence posts, and SURKAL provides saplings, fuel, and other fencing materials. The community is taking ownership of the project, with each household being responsible for their allocation of saplings. The forest, on the outskirts of Darbogaz, is intended to provide much needed shade and recreation for the village
